Manchester United’s hopes of a top four finish could be over if they fail to beat Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium on Sunday.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side currently sit sixth, and must rely on results from Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham - with the latter losing 1-0 at Bournemouth on Saturday - if they are to secure Champions League football next season.

A perfect finish to the season is realistically needed – hardly a guarantee after a run of form that has seen United win just two of their last 10 games.

Huddersfield will be hosting their final league game of the season – they will be determined to end a wretched season with a bang.

Huddersfield vs Man Utd team news and predicted line-ups

David De Gea will start Manchester United's penultimate Premier League match at Huddersfield, with back-up Sergio Romero injured.

Romero picked up a knee injury in training as people questioned whether out-of-sorts De Gea should start, while defender Eric Bailly will miss Sunday's trip with a season-ending medial ligament injury in his right knee.

Mason Greenwood is out with an issue of his own,but United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was not giving much else away. Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Jesse Lingard were conspicuous by their absence from Wednesday's part-open training session, but Marcus Rashford and Antonio Valencia were involved.

Terriers boss Jan Siewert has confirmed centre-back Mathias Jorgensen would not be available to face United, while goalkeeper Ben Hamer has returned to training but will not feature.

Huddersfield might be missing a few players with injury doubts. Philip Billing, Demeaco Duhaney, and Laurent Depoitre might make it into the squad this time having missed out in the 5-0 drubbing by Liverpool, while Adama Diakhaby should be fit enough for the squad at least. He was on the bench for that heavy defeat.

Few know what's going on at Manchester United these days and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the difficult task of picking his best XI out of a selection of players he doesn't rate, has doubts about fitness over and are in good enough form to warrant a place. Antonio Valencia is out injured, Ander Herrera is doubtful, Eric Bailly will miss the rest of the season with a knee ligament injury, Phil Jones is doubtful, Scott McTominay might be fit enough to make the squad or start.
